There
is no such thing as making too much money or taking
too many risks. And Seth (Ribisi) firmly believes
that. Right up to the point where his illegal
casino gets busted by his father, the judge (Rifkin).
Boiler Room is about a young man with what his
father calls "no direction in his life."
He spends his days perfecting lies about the classes
he's taking at college, and his nights making
money the only way he knows: taking risks and
gambling. Which makes him the perfect recruit
for Greg (Katt) and Adam (Kennedy). It seems they're
making it big as stock brokers and they suggest
that Seth come for an interview. And so begins
his amazing opportunity. But if it seems too good
to be true, it probably is.
Between
the money and the respect of his father, Seth
is floating on cloud nine. He makes some new friends
like Chris (Diesel), Richie (Caan), Jim (Affleck),
the head of the Boiler Room, Michael (Scott) and
Greg's former girlfriend, Abbie (Long). But there
is trouble stirring and Seth is blind-sided by
a confrontation with the FBI. You won't want to
miss what happens with the heart-stopping drama
that unfolds and Seth's valiant attempts to get
out alive.
Among
the first of Diesel's movies to hit the big screen,
his role, though small, is an excellent glimpse
at the charm and charisma he pours into his characters.
A must-watch for those fans of Diesel that enjoy
more than hollywood effects, Boiler Room shows
us the real meaning behind the phrase "Money
is the root of all evil."
