A challenge originally issued to Superchick, but picked up by her friends at AoVD, too:
Write a sex scene of one hundred words or less, with a maximum of twenty words of dialogue. No names may be used, so only the actions or the things they say can indicate who they are.

Do an "Anywhere But Here" story in Second Person Singular POV. 500 words exactly. Story to feature a priest, a pillow, and someone winking as important aspects of the plot. No sex. NO VIN FANDOMS ALLOWED.

Circle Jerk by Ally Ranger

You don't want to know what a circle-jerk ordinarily is, trust me. But for writers, a circle-jerk can be when a bunch of you get together, form a circle, and then pass challenges along the circle. The circle picks an overall topic. Then each writer gives their neighbor a word or phrase, and then writes for 3-10 minutes on the word or phrase they were given before reading (or posting) their results. This challenge will cover all stories or vignettes that emerge as a result of a writing circle-jerk.

Closer Challenge by X2004

Okay so my twisted little mind has come up with a little challenge for all you little kiddies out there that are interest.

Fandom(s): Pitch Black, or TFATF
Challenge: Write a one chapter fic minimum of 100 words describing a scene that incudes the song "Closer" by Nine Inch Nines from the album Downward Spiral. It has to be at least an R rated fic. You can add smut if you want. You have to use two existing Characters from the movies no originals.

Pick any Vin movie of your choice. 150 word min. 400 word max. Write a comedic scene involving two or more charries, 20 words of dialogue or less.

What would happen if Vin's characters got mixed up -- say, if Chris appeared in A Man Apart instead of Sean, or Xander appeared in Pitch Black instead of Riddick? Write at least one scene of a Vin movie, but make it so that Our (Anti)Hero finds himself in the wrong story.

Take one of Vin's characters to his deathbed and write about his thoughts, regrets, etc. in no more than 3000 words.

Write a drabble (a story of exactly 100 words) in any fandom.

Usually when I post a writing challenge, the aim is to (hopefully) help those taking the challenge to develop their writing skills. This time, though, the learning's going to be on my part, seeing as how I'm pretty new at this eroticism business.

Here's the challenge: Write a story, two hundred fifty to five hundred words, any fandom or original. It must be erotic, but here's the catch: it must also be G to PG. No sex. Not so much as a kiss or a touch. I'd like to see what folks can come up with, using nonsexual words and imagery, to create a sensual and erotic story.

Some examples provided by the lovely and talented Erin_Pedz:

1. Wet leaves--the smell and feel of them.
2. Sunbathing in the nude, the feel of the sun on bare skin.
3. Eating chocolate fondue.

Can the wind in the trees be sensual? Can the rain on your face be erotic? I'm looking for stimulation of the senses, but not the sexual senses.

Issued in the aftermath of 9/11, when people at AoVD were pretty depressed and upset. The challenge was to write "escapist" stories that would provide distraction from the sudden onslaught of darkness in everyone's lives. The stories couldn't include any angst that wasn't somehow solved by the end of the story, and there had to be an unequivocally happy ending.

This challenge was issued shortly after the beginning of the second Gulf War, as an attempt to lift people's spirits and get their minds off the anxieties a lot of them were feeling. Full details can be read here.

Something that I find so very little of, in the Vin-related fandoms, is the adaption of myth, lore and legend into fan fiction. My challenge to you, is to write a fan fic where the principle story arc is that of a fairy tale. Yes, I want you to adapt a fairy tale.

You do not need to transmute your characters to eighteenth century Paris (though you may). Why not bring the fairy tale to them? Rumplestiltskin in the 21st century? Cinderella in the far-distant future...?

Fractured fairy tales--that is, those that are skewed, altered--are also accepted and in fact are encouraged.

Your response must be a minimum of three pages and must incorporate the mythic or moral themes that the original tale contained. For added difficulty, colourful speech tags (such as she asked, replied, retorted, snorted, grunted, yelled, raged, and on and on) are to be kept to a minimum. If your fic contains ten paragraphs, then the maximum number of colourful speech tags must be equal to or less than five. Said is not a dirty word. Use it.

I want to be disturbed, I want to swoon; I want variety, originality and good writing. I want you all to take a fairy tale, run with it and have fun.

Describe the very first time your character saw (not met, unless the meeting was the very first glimpse) the person they fall in love with. No dialogue.

Write a scene, two hundred fifty words or less, any fandom or original. Write it from the point of view of a force of nature. In other words, you are to personify, say, an earthquake, or a storm, or a season.

Funny Song Challenge by Ghostme

Find lyrics for songs that would be considered "comedy" or parodies... they don't have to be "songs" per se, meaning that they lyrics dont have to be sung...there are several sites that pop up if you search for "Dr. Demento lyrics."

Once you find a song, or skit... *grin* Write a lyric fic around it!

Here's the twist, try to make it seem normal, what I mean is, don't try to make the story funny.
